The city of Asaba, D elta State is buzzing with energy as the 9th National Youth Games (NYG) unfolds from August 26 to September 6, 2025. This year’s edition hosted for the third consecutive time by Delta is setting new standards in youth sports, uniting over 6,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from across Nigeria. From athletics to swimming, gymnastics, football, and even Scrabble, the Games feature 37 sporting disciplines, making it one of the most diverse editions yet. The Stephen Keshi Stadium and other top facilities in Asaba are serving as arenas where future national champions are being discovered. Highlights Delta State , the defending champions, are aiming to keep their crown on home soil. Team Lagos swimmers made history with a record-breaking 19 gold medals in the pool. The 20th World Youth Scrabble Championship Heads to Malaysia

The countdown is on for the 20th edition of the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC), set to take place from 30 August to 1 September 2025 in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Organized at the Sri Kuala Lumpur International School (Primary), the WYSC will once again bring together the brightest young Scrabble talents from across the globe. A Global Gathering of Youth Talent Since its inception in 2006, the WYSC has been the pinnacle event for young Scrabble players, offering a platform for rising stars to showcase their skills on the international stage. The 2025 edition promises to be one of the biggest yet, with around 300 players expected to compete, representing countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Tournament Format Competitors will battle it out over 24 games across three days, each match testing their vocabulary depth, board vision, and tactical prowess.
