 The Niger Delta Games 2026 (NDGames 2026) featured competitive scrabble as a core mind sport, with u20 players from across the Niger Delta states competing in Singles, Doubles, and Team events. The Bayelsa scrabble community is set for another major competitive showdown as the Bayelsa State Scrabble Association, in collaboration with the Yenagoa Scrabble Club and Peremabiri Scrabble Club, presents the 2nd Cashier Bruce Olotu Memorial Scrabble Championship. Scheduled to take place from Saturday, 14th to Sunday, 15th March 2026, the tournament will be hosted at the prestigious Golden Tulip Hotel and Resort, Onopa, Yenagoa, with play commencing at 9:00 AM daily. This second edition continues the legacy of honoring Cashier Bruce Olotu while strengthening the competitive scrabble structure in Bayelsa State. Joseph Okere has officially been crowned the king of the Scrabble In The Jungle (SITJ) Tournament, delivering a dominant performance that left no doubts about his supremacy in the field.  Okere was gibsonised in the 34th round, a result that mathematically secured the championship title even before the final rounds were concluded. This early confirmation of victory underscored the commanding lead he had built throughout the tournament.  His triumph was anchored on consistent excellence, sharp strategic precision, and outstanding mental resilience, qualities that enabled him to outclass a highly competitive and determined field of players. WESPA Appoints Yong Jian Rong as New Ratings Officer

The World English-language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA) has announced the appointment of Yong Jian Rong (Singapore) as its new Ratings Officer, a strategic move aimed at strengthening the global scrabble rating framework. Effective 1 January 2026. Yong Jian Rong is a Scrabble Expert from Singapore and will oversee the administration and continuous improvement of the WESPA Rating System, which serves as the international benchmark for competitive Scrabble rankings. Yong's mandate includes stimulating global competitiveness, promoting wider adoption of the system, and ensuring consistency and transparency in ratings management.
