Ekowe Retreat: Building a Scrabble Culture in Bayelsa

The town of Ekowe, one of the fast developing communities in Bomo Clan, Southern Ijaw Local Government in Bayelsa State, is steadily carving a name for itself on Nigeria’s scrabble map through its monthly Scrabble Retreats. This grassroots initiative has become a rallying point for wordsmiths across the Niger Delta, blending competition with community spirit.

Each retreat brings together players of different skill levels who square off in a structured format powered by the TSH tournament software. The September edition, currently underway, features 10 rounds of play, ensuring that both seasoned campaigners and rising talents get a true test of endurance and strategy.

Beyond the results, the retreat serves as a training ground for future champions, sharpening competitive instincts while fostering friendships. It also provides a platform to measure consistency, as players return month after month to track progress and battle familiar rivals.
